Yorkshire Photo Walks
Yorkshire Photo Walks Every photograph is a new discovery.
Here at Yorkshire Photo Walks we pride ourselves in offering expert, practical photography tuition on walks through unique and inspirational locations across the diverse and photogenic county of Yorkshire. Offering a wide range scheduled walks for all levels and abilities and bespoke 1to1 and private group tuition, Yorkshire Photo Walks will have you snapping away like a pro in not time at all.
Suitable for All Levels Whether you are a beginner or an enthusiast, Yorkshire Photo Walks will make sure that everyone gets as much out of each session as possible. No one will go home bamboozled and no one will go home bored. We also cater for people with different levels of mobility, offering short, flat strolls to longer rambles.
Inspirational Locations Tom, our tutor, has an extensive knowledge of this fabulous county and knows all the best places to take photos. With over 50 unique locations covered each and every year, you will never be short of inspiration. We like to tempt you off the beaten track to find new angles, unique places and breathtaking sights.
£ Affordable Courses From just £25 per participant, you will struggle to find a more financially accessible way of learning about photography from a professional tutor, out in the field. We also offer bespoke 1to1 Photo Walks from just £50! With two opportunities per year to try our services for free, I'm sure you will agree, you're getting a good deal.
Practical & Hands On All of our Photo Walks allow you to put valuable theory into practice. Our Photo Walk tutor will give you practical tasks to carry out based upon the theme of the session. This enables each and every participant the chance to ask questions based upon what they are doing, rather than reading a manual or text book.
Learn in Bite-Sized Chunks Our Photo Walks are usually 2 hours long, on average. This means you never get overloaded with information. The sessions centre around a specific subject or technique, which focuses your attention. We get repeat customers coming back time after time to learn something new in a new location.
Learn in Smaller Groups A Yorkshire Photo Walk will never have more than 6 people in attendance. This means that our tutor has more time for each individual participant. You will never feel left out on a Photo Walk. Whatever your level you can progress at your own pace and make huge strides forward.
Have Some Fun We are great believers in the fact that photography is a fun hobby. Therefore, we should have fun whilst learning about it. All of our Photo Walks are conducted in a relaxed and friendly environment. No one is judged for asking a simple question and everyone benefits from each other's contribution.
The Social Aspect
People often come on the Photo Walks to meet other like minded people. We encourage participants to learn from one another. We will often end a day of Photo Walks in a local pub, where we can get together over a few drinks, have an informal photo review and chat about the hobby we all share.
Photo Walk After Care
Your Yorkshire Photo Walk experience doesn't have to end at the culmination of a walk. We allow participants to share their photographs through our social media channels and offer Photo Walk PDFs to help you keep the information you have learned, fresh in your mind.
About Tom Marsh, the Yorkshire Photo Walks Tutor... Tom Marsh is a young(ish) photographer with bags of passion and over 5 years teaching experience. In 2012, when he established Yorkshire Photo Walks, he had just embarked upon a Masters Degree in Photographic Studies at the University of Westminster. Today he continues to share his extensive knowledge, teaching clients to 'think photographically.' This tempts them away from a point and shoot mentality towards a more considered approach. Sharing hints and tips about camera settings, composition and observation skills, Tom makes every photograph a new discovery. His love of photography is abundant on every session, making each Photo Walk extremely addictive and informative. Tom labels himself as 'The Flat Capped Photographer.' Born and bred in Yorkshire he has a wealth of local knowledge and uses this to help his Photo Walkers find the best shots. His jovial character and extremely friendly and approachable nature makes learning from him effortless. Tom's background is in contemporary photographic art. After struggling to cope with sitting behind a desk all day as a website designer, he bravely took the step to launch a new career as a photographic artist and tutor. Since then he has exhibited his work in London and, proudly, in his home city of Leeds. He has also staged mass group projects such as the Yorkshire Dales Photographic Grid Project, which has received great acclaim, being featured in the Yorkshire Post and on BBC Look North in 2017.
